Rumour round-up: All you need to know about Samsung Galaxy S IV

Ahead of the Mobile World Congress 2013 (MWC), the rumour mills are already abuzz about the features Samsung’s next flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S IV, will have. The device is likely to be showcased at the MWC in Barcelona. Here’s a quick look at the rumours about the Samsung Galaxy S IV: The screen: The new smartphone is expected to have a bigger and better display. How big? The new screen could be 4.99 inches in size, according to SamMobile. The S III screen is 4.8 inches, so it won’t be that much bigger in comparison. But the screen resolution is expected to be higher than the iPhone 5. According to rumours, the screen will have 441 pixels per inch (ppi) which is way more than iPhone 5’s 326 ppi. There are also reports that the screen of the S IV will be unbreakable. Reuters quoted Mark Newman, an analyst at Stanford Bernstein in Hong Kong as saying, “Eventually, they’ll have unbreakable and flexible displays. Either the Galaxy S IV or S V will have unbreakable and even possibly flexible and foldable displays by 2014. That’s going to be a game-changer.” While Samsung showed off a flexible screen at CES 2013, the chances that the S IV will ship with one are very slim. Reuters[/caption] Processor: According to SamMobile, the device will come with a powerful Exynos 5 Octa or eight-core processor. Samsung had recently shown off this chip at CES 2013. According to Samsung, this chip will allow heavy duty multi-tasking and faster video streaming in HD mode among other things. The S III presently has a quad-core processor Wireless Charging: According to reports in Korean newspaper DDaily , Samsung will be selling a wireless charging pad and a dock with the S IV. Currently Nokia’s Lumia devices are the only ones that offer the option of wireless charging. Other features: SamMobile says   the device will come with a 13-megapixel camera and a 2-megapixel front facing camera , that is capable of shooting 720p HD Videos. It will run Android 4.2.1 Jelly Bean. The device which was codenamed “Project J” is now “Altius(J)”, and will come in black and white colours. And if you’re bouncing with excitement to get your hands on this phone, you may have to wait a bit. Even according to rumours, Samsung won’t start shipping the device before mid-April.
