Infocus X9 DLP Projector

It’s time once again to review a serious brand of projectors. Today we are covering a DLP model by Infocus - Infocus X9. It is a mid segment projector, and judging by past performances by other Infocus models, we hope to be seeing some serious lumen artwork reflect off our huge white canvas.

Design and Features
Being a true mid segment model, this projector has size and aesthetics that fall into a medium category. The chassis is black all over with the top panel having a smooth finish, bearing a mild luster. The remote is shaped like a credit card, and is seated right onto a cut out made according to its shape, on the top panel itself, thus we have no separate menu buttons on the unit. There is just one blue LED power button. With the remote seamlessly fitted in, we can control settings from the top panel itself or just slide out the remote and click away.

The sides are heavily contoured by the horizontal grooves that run continually along the front and sides, and honestly is not the best design element. The lens comes covered by a plastic fully removable cap, and is positioned at the regular left corner of the front panel. Right on top of the lens are two coaxially turning dials, one for focus and the other for zoom. Overall the size and form factor do give the X9 portability, plus the supported resolutions (as mentioned ahead) make this one a dual use model, for both home theater and business.

Connectivity wise the X9 comes equipped with necessities, having one each of HDMI, Component video, Composite and S-video. There is also the obvious 15 pin D-sub for VGA in (PC connection). This is a true 720p projector; it’s native resolution is 1280 x 720. Thus marketing guys can call it HD ready.
