burrp!, one of the most popular foodilicious sites, went digital for its mobile users by launching an iPhone app last year. Now burrp! has released its app for Android fiends. Needless to say, it isn’t just for foodies and along with Food & Drink, it extends to other categories such as Events & Movies, Spas & Gyms, Shop & Style, Hotels and Know Your City. Read on to know how burrp! for Android fares.
Starts detecting your location
Design and layout
The homepage of the app looks lively and bright with large thumbnail-size buttons for Food & Drink, Events & Movies, Spas & Gyms, Shop & Style, Hotels and Know Your City. Above these buttons, you will find tabs for Home, Map and Favorites. On the upper left hand corner, the burrp! logo is imprinted, which instantly takes you to the homepage no matter which part of the app you are accessing. On the upper left corner, you will find the ‘Search’ option that takes you to a page letting you search for places and events. In the places and events section, you just need to add in the city, local area and what you are searching for. On doing so, it will quickly display a list of search results.

burrp! has also added an option for people to send in their valuable feedback. If you look at the lower side of the homepage, it always shows the city and the local area that you have selected, for instance – Mumbai, Matunga. Just tap on it and it will take you to the ‘Change location’ option. Navigating across the app is easy and it’s not a time consuming process.

Features and performance
Currently, the app serves as a food, activities and events guide for 12 cities – Mumbai, Pune, Bangalore, Delhi NCR/Gurgaon, Chennai, Chandigarh, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Kolkata, Goa, Jaipur and Kochi. Turn on the app, and burrp! starts detecting your location to find the best places around (it showed Oshiwara as the location while we were at Jogeshwari station. However, you can manually change the location.)The Search option on the right upper corner and location of the lower side are displayed no matter which part of the app you are in. So, you can simply change the location and search option anytime. It quickly displays all popular and nearby places, and also lets you upload photos and reviews. You can check out other user reviews, menus and contact details of the place too. Now, if you are in some new location or looking for a new eatery, then the complete Maps support will ensure that you don’t face difficulty searching for the place. While searching for places in a particular area, the map is pinned with all those joints in that area. Just tap on one of the pins and it will take you to the burrp! page of the eatery with all the necessary details. Then there’s the Favorites icon that lets you add a particular burrp! page in the Favorites section, which can be later accessed directly from the homepage.
If you enter Food & Drink or any other category, you will find a ‘T’ shaped icon that helps you broaden the category further. In Food & Drink, it lets you search for newly opened food joints, check out burrp! certified eateries, home delivery options and also search for specific cuisines or budget-based restaurants. We liked that the search is streamlined and depends upon your location. Whatever you search, the app considers the selected location and shows only those options in that particular area.
In Spas and Gyms, it will let you broaden your search to yoga classes, spiritual centres, swimming pools and so on. While searching for food joints, the app does an excellent job. The search results showed up all the popular and nearby places, whether we looked up places in Mumbai or Goa. In the movies section, you will find the synopsis, show timings at various multiplexes, an option to call Bookmyshow to book the ticket and you can also read and write reviews for the movie.

Verdict
burrp! is one of the most useful Food and Events guide and it is nice to finally get an app for Android. The app comes across as pretty neat and straightforward and extends beyond food joints. It definitely earns brownie points for the complete Maps support within the device. It is an informative guide if you are looking for a good eating joint, a lounge to chill, want to watch the latest flick, relax at a spa or hit the gym. We think you should give it a try.
