With companies such as Asus, Acer, MSI and a couple more bombarding the market with these portable yet affordable machines, it goes beyond doubt that netbooks are here to stay. In fact, they have changed the image of what we call “Mobile Computing”. Even though their processing capabilities are below an average laptop they win hands down when portability and battery life is taken into account. Consider them as an advantage for people who need it for basic requirements such as MS Office Applications and for those who need to connect to the Internet.

As sleek as it looks, the Acer 751H is not only about design and appeal but the overall build quality speaks a lot about the product itself. Ergonomically designed the Acer 751H is not more than an inch thick and weighs just about 1.35 kilograms, making it light and portable enough to carry just about anywhere. Going by the looks, the Acer 751H is a real stunner with a glossy black finish. Even though the unit is prone to finger prints one could overlook this for its robust build quality. That said, there might be a certain level of distraction while typing or watching a movie since the glossy screen tends to attract a lot of glare in a brightly lit room.

Lift up the screen lid and the 751h will greet you with a keyboard with well spaced keys. Despite being a netbook, the 751H has a full sized keyboard that will satisfy the needs of most users. What really sets it apart is its bright and vibrant 11.6-inch screen that has a display resolution of 1366x768.

With the capability of playing HD movies at 720p, the 751H offers great value for money. Now, apart from the HD playback the Acer 751H has support for high definition audio. This means, you can now enjoy all your favorite music and movies with full 3D surround sound. Just like its predecessor the Acer 751H features a multi-gesture touchpad that allows you to zoom-in, zoom-out and scroll. A point worth noting is the screen hinge which feels more sturdy and stable when compared to their D250. A well thought of idea is the slightly angular VGA and Ethernet ports that sets it apart from other netbooks.

The sad part is that the Acer 751H is based on the older Atom Z520 which operates at 1.3 GHz as compared to the 10-inch D250 that’s based on a faster Atom processor – the N270. But nevertheless, the 751H will suffice if you don’t plan to run demanding applications. Accompanying the Z520 is a 160GB hard drive and 1GB of RAM while you also have the option of connecting multiple devices via the three USB ports and multi-card reader. Wireless connectivity is taken care of via Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. Adding to its great feature set, the Acer 751H is capable of delivering an amazing eight hours of battery backup when working on applications such as MS Office and Paint.
All in all the Acer 715H is a great laptop alternative with its wide 11.6-inch screen and full sized keyboard. But that’s only applicable if you are ready to sacrifice performance over portability.
The Acer 751H won’t break any records in performance but will definitely win hearts with its stunning 11.6-inch screen and amazing battery life.
