OpenAI’s chatbot, ChatGPT, is experiencing a major outage, preventing hundreds of users from accessing the service and instead displaying constant error messages. Users throughout the world have reported that, while the website itself is still available, the core chatbot feature is inaccessible.
The scale of the problem can be seen by the notable increase in difficulties reported for both OpenAI and ChatGPT on Down Detector, a platform where users report server problems.
Users in India and the US encountered substantial interruptions, which mostly impacted the chatbot’s basic operation.
In India, 82% of recorded complaints were directly related to ChatGPT’s inability to react to enquiries. Mobile application issues accounted for 14% of complaints, while 4% of users reported difficulty with API integration.
In the United States, over 900 customers reported troubles, with 93 percent of those affected experiencing problems with ChatGPT itself. Six percent of users experienced app-related troubles, while one percent had login issues.
The disruption, which OpenAI reported on its official status page, also affects Sora, the company’s text-to-video creation platform.
Currently, both essential services are unavailable, frustrating users who depend on these AI tools for a variety of jobs.
