Nothing CEO Carl Pei has confirmed that the much-anticipated Nothing Phone (3) will launch in 2025, following the successful debut of the Nothing Phone (2) in 2023. According to tipster Evan Blass, who shared a leaked email from Pei, this year is shaping up to be the company’s most significant yet, largely due to the arrival of its flagship device, the Nothing Phone (3).

Pei revealed that the new phone will not only focus on refining the user experience but also introduce AI-driven features that will mark the company’s first major step towards its AI-powered platform.

Phone (3) to come with AI

Pei’s email detailed that the Nothing Phone (3) aims to redefine personal computing devices, making life easier for users by integrating AI in ways that previous models did not. The upcoming device will mark a departure from Nothing’s usual release cycle, with a two-year gap between the Phone (2) and the Phone (3).

This longer wait suggests significant upgrades and improvements, particularly in terms of AI capabilities. Pei hinted that the AI features would be seamlessly integrated into the operating system, offering a highly personalised user experience. One of the first upgrades will likely be a re-imagined home screen that enhances usability with AI at its core.

New features and leaks

Leaks about the Nothing Phone (3) suggest several new features, including a 6.5-inch display and an iPhone-inspired Action Button. The Action Button will allow users to create personalised shortcuts, launch apps, or toggle settings, providing a unique customisation option for device control. Additionally, a Pro variant, the Nothing Phone (3) Pro, is expected to launch alongside the base model, featuring a larger 6.7-inch screen to cater to users who prefer bigger displays.

Pei and his team have also teased other AI-driven features, claiming that the Nothing Phone (3) will act as a hub for a personalised mobile experience. These innovations are expected to make the device stand out, particularly as AI continues to become a more integral part of smartphones.

Affordable pricing and mid-range chipset

In terms of performance, the Nothing Phone (3) is rumoured to feature a mid-range chipset, such as the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 or MediaTek Dimensity 9200+, signalling a potential price drop compared to the Phone (2), which launched with the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1.

This shift towards a mid-range focus could make the Phone (3) more affordable, while the Pro version will likely cater to users seeking top-tier performance. With a starting price of Rs 32,999 for the Nothing Phone (1) and Rs 44,999 for the Phone (2), the Phone (3) could appeal to a broader audience, balancing affordability with cutting-edge features.

The official launch of the Nothing Phone (3) is expected to take place by the end of March 2025, making it one of the most anticipated releases of the year. With its AI-driven enhancements and potential for competitive pricing, the Phone (3) is likely to attract both tech enthusiasts and everyday consumers alike.
