Lenovo owned ZUK is gearing up for the launch of its next flagship smartphone, the ZUK Edge. While there have been rumours about this device and it has appeared in leaks, there was no confirmed date regarding its launch until now. The news comes from none other than the company’s CEO and former Lenovo VP, Chang Cheng via his
Weibo account
. The CEO announced that the launch would take place in the coming week and also added a new render (shown above) of the smartphone in the same post. Indeed, the biggest question here is why is ZUK calling its newest flagship the Edge. Going just by the name one would expect the device to have dual edge curved display or just ultra thin bezels (if its competing with Xiaomi’s Mi Mix
). But a look at the leaked image below and we have a handset, that doesn’t exactly define the word exciting. There are minimal bezels on every side and it does not feature ultra thin bezels like the name suggests. [caption id=“attachment_349966” align=“aligncenter” width=“640”]

Image: .androidpure[/caption] Perhaps the brand refers to the top spec internals that the device is expected to pack in. This would include a Full HD display, and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 chipset paired with 6GB RAM. Internal storage options include 64GB and 128GB models. One can expect a 13MP camera on the back and an 8MP shooter for selfies on the front. The handset is expected to boot to Android 7.0 Nougat with some customisations.
