A new device from ZTE with model number Z999 was spotted on FCC’s website and it appears to be the Axon M smartphone with a foldable display. ZTE has an event scheduled in New York City on 17 October and it could be possible that they will be showcasing this phone.

The phone was also  spotted on Geekbench and has a 6.8-inch display with a 1920 x 2160 pixels resolution when it is unfolded. According to the benchmarks, the ZTE Z999 will have 4 GB of RAM and a quad-core Qualcomm processor clocked at 2.0 GHz.

The phone had single core score as 1677 and multicore score of 4130.  The phone will not be running the latest Android Oreo 8.0 but will have Android 7.1.2 Nougat at the moment.

At the moment there is no information about the phone’s battery life or the camera but given its foldable design, it can be expected that the phone’s internal motherboard will be split into two foldable portions with high strength flex cables according to The leaker. Also, there is no word currently on the expected pricing of the phone, however, Android Authority believes that the phone will be given a price tag  of around $650.

Recently  Samsung  has been teasing the arrival of a  smartphone with a folding display  for long.  The news came from Samsung Electronics’ President in charge Ko Dong-jin who disclosed that the electronics giant will launch a folding smartphone in 2018.

Samsung Electronics  has reportedly been working on a folding smartphone for the past 4 to 5 years. While the company initially setup a goal to build an out-folding smartphone, that goal changed about 1 to 2 years ago.
