ZombiU gets new trailer at PAX Prime

The Penny Arcade Expo (PAX) Prime is going on in full swing right now with new game videos and announcements coming in from all over the place. Ubisoft’s upcoming Wii U title ZombiU now has a new trailer that shows off the survival aspects of the game, along with some examples of how the Wii U’s touch-screen controller will be used.

The video shows the player going through a ruined Buckingham Palace after a zombie outbreak. It shows the player using the Wii U controller for things like detecting hidden passages, opening briefcases and detecting zombies. The controller will also be used for other stuff like accessing your backpack and picking locks without pausing the game. This could potentially create more tension while playing, as you’ll be able to see your character frantically picking a lock while a horde of zombies is slowly making their way towards you. Ubisoft had released another trailer of the game earlier this month where a developer of the game explained some of the features of the game. Ubisoft also explains that death for a character in the game will be permanent. Once your character dies, you will not be able to see that character, except as a zombie when you chase that character down to get your backpack back.

Nintendo seems to be really focusing on the touchscreen on its controller for the console. Satoru Iwata, President of Nintendo hopes that the Wii U’s innovative GamePad controller with the screen will help the console be different from what Microsoft or Sony would be doing, and hopes to change the way people think about a gaming console.

ZombiU will make interesting use of the Wii U controller

ZombiU looks pretty frightening

With the Wii U, Nintendo promises that it won’t miss out on multiplatform games, because the hardware will be much closer to what Sony and Microsoft will have to offer. “We have not successfully kept the momentum of the Wii for about the last two years because third-party publishers have released a smaller number of game titles and Nintendo has also decreased new games for the platform in preparation for the launch of the Nintendo 3DS and the Wii U,” said Iwata at an annual meeting with shareholders.

According to an earlier report, Nikkei, a Japanese business newspaper, had claimed that the Wii U will release for about ¥30,000, which is Rs 21,000 approximately. For the sake of comparison, the PlayStation 3, 160GB model has an MSRP of ¥24,980 (around Rs 17,600), and the Wii’s MSRP is ¥20,000 (roughly Rs. 14,000) in Japan. The newspaper also reports that the Wii U will support non-game content, including a car navigator, books and a karaoke service with around 10,000 songs. An unnamed senior publisher spoke with MCV UK, stating that the Wii U will definitely be less than £249.

Earlier, Amazon had the Wii U at a £199 (around Rs 17,000), but it had to remove the listing and the pre-orders because that was not what the price was supposed to be. Amazon’s mistake came at the expense of the consumers who pre-ordered Nintendo’s next generation console. Various sources are now reporting that the Wii U will cost around £50 more than the price that Amazon had listed.

Ever heard of one of those people who just never seem to shut up about something? Shunal is like the nerd equivalent of that guy. Believe us when we say that he can go on talking about games and smartphones for hours on end. We do manage to find some insight in his insane ramblings though, and through his moronic facade, he does seem to know more than he lets on. Sadly enough, it always ends up being about gaming with him. Or stupid, stupid puns. see more
