Zomato partners with Burger King, Delhivery and Grab for home delivery in 4 Indian cities

The next time you’re hungry and want to grab yourself a burger, you might have another option. For the first time, Burger King has signed up for a tech-enabled partnership which enables its customers to order online from their restaurants using Zomato. The service is only available in Delhi NCR, Mumbai, Bangalore, and Pune, with more cities to be added shortly. Through its investee company Grab, and logistics partner Delhivery, Zomato will also service the delivery logistics for Burger King in India, the fifth market in which Burger King delivers to customers at home. Burger King is a global chain of hamburger fast food restaurants headquartered in Miami, Florida, United States. Founded in 1954, it is one of the largest fast food hamburger chains in the world. Zomato is used by consumers globally to discover, rate and review restaurants, as well as create their own personal network of foodies for trusted recommendations. Commenting on the association, Rajeev Varman, CEO of Burger King India said, “Online-apps and mobile penetration have changed the way business is being done worldwide. We believe tech-enabled solutions will give us a chance to keep pace with the customers. This strategic tie-up has opened avenues for faster growth. We are looking to strengthen our partnership further through various collaborations in the future.” “Partnering with Burger King enables them to reach out to a larger audience in an untapped market such as India using our platform,” says Tanmay Saksena, Global Business Head, Online Ordering, Zomato. “Our online ordering business is growing at 50 per cent month-on-month, and we are certain that we will continue to drive immense value for restaurant brands, as well as give our customers a wide selection of places to order from online,” he added. Zomato launched its online ordering service in May this year, and offers customers 15,000 restaurants to order from online across 14 cities in India. Offering the service on mobile apps as well as their website, Zomato recently hit a peak of 11,000 orders a day in India. Burger King entered the Indian market a year ago, and currently operates 35 outlets and plans to reach 50 outlets by year end. The delivery logistics for orders placed online at Burger King are managed by Zomato’s investee company Grab, and logistics partners Delhivery. Burger King’s most-ordered menu item on Zomato so far has been the Bigg Boss Whopper, which has been launched to commemorate Burger King’s first anniversary in India.
