Zomato Launches BlackBerry App

Zomato yesterday announced the launch of a BlackBerry app for their restaurant directory. This app, much like their web portal and the Android app, will allow BlackBerry users to look for nearby restaurants based on their location and will let them look at menu cards, contact details, reviews and addresses.

The key features of the app are:

• Suggests a random restaurant near your current location (rub the trackpad sideways to get next restaurant)
• Get recommendations for the best restaurants around your current location (A-GPS based); or for some other location (manual input)
• Search for a restaurant name, location or cuisine

Deepinder Goyal, Co-Founder and CEO, Zomato said, “We are the first restaurant portal in the country to develop an Android application and we have now launched it for Blackberry users too. Users will be able to enjoy all the functionalities of our website on the Zomato application. Blackberry penetration is very high among corporates in India and our application aims at providing this consumer base an exhaustive list options for places to eat based on their location.”

If you don’t know what Zomato is, here’s a lowdown. Zomato.com, formerly Foodiebay.com, was launched in July 2008 by Deepinder Goyal and Pankaj Chaddah, IIT Delhi graduates. It is an online food guide and restaurant directory and lists menus, prices and contact details of restaurants and also offers discount coupons to customers. It has its presence in Delhi NCR, Mumbai, Bangalore, Kolkata, Pune and Chennai. They launched an Android app in January, which was well received.
