YouTube releases 2016 Rewind, announces most viewed videos in India for 2016

YouTube has released the YouTube Rewind video for 2016. The video features appearances from over 200 YouTube stars across 18 countries who paid homage to the biggest pop culture moments of the year. The stars hunt for video content in a manner similar to hunting down Pokémon in Pokémon GO . There are surprise guest appearances, and an original mix created by Major Lazer.

YouTube also released the top trending video content in India, according to views, likes, comments and shares. The top ten videos together have seventy million views, and the channels who uploaded them have forty five million subscribers. There are separate lists for music videos and movie trailers.

Sony Entertainment Television came right on top when Salman Khan appeared on The Kapil Sharma Show as part of Sultan promotions.

In second place is 6 year old Ayat Shaikh’s blind audition for The Voice India Kids. This is an overload of cuteness.

Sony Entertainment Television is on the list again in the third place with this Crime Patrol Dial 100 episode, which shows the investigation of a mother murdering her son in Delhi.

In fourth place is a video from ABP news in Hindi, explaining the rumours around a nano-GPS chip supposedly in the new Rs 2000 notes.

In fifth place is The Viral Fever playing truth or dare with Dad.

The Viral Fever is in sixth place as well, with the first episode of the second season of Permanent Roommates - ‘The Parents’

AIB comes in seventh, with a brutally honest take on bars and restaurants

In eighth place is season 1 episode 1 of Life Sahi Hai - The Maid

In ninth place is a behind a scenes look of Shah Rukh Khan transforming into a fan by Yash Raj Films

In tenth place is a live act by stand up comedian Zakir Khan on AIB Divas

YouTube released a list of the most viewed music videos in India as well. Kala Chasma came in top place, with 45 million views, followed by Kar Gayi Chull and Baby ko Bass pasand hai. Here are the top ten videos, in order.

When it comes to Indian Movie Trailers, Kabali was the most viral, which is a count of engagement, discussions, likes and shares apart from the 32 million views. Dangal came in second with 36 million views, and Sultan came in third with 34 million views. Here are the top ten trending trailers from India over the course of the year.

With Sultan, Befikre and Fan in the top ten list, Yash Raj Films has more viral trailers than any other production house.
