Sony has been hard at work on the latest addition to the Xperia series, the Xperia Honami. And the leaks for the same seem to match the effort, going by the number of them atleast. Adding to the list, a new batch of photographs, leaked yesterday, shows the smartphone in a shiny white avatar.
And that’s just half the story. Another intriguing image in the leaked batch actually turned out to be a presentation slide showing off the smartphone’s 4K video recording capabilities, according to another report . This confirms earlier rumours of the same.
The 4K video in the Honami comes with a resolution of 4000 x 2000 according to the leak. The standard resolution for 4K videos is normally 4096 x 2160, though. Keeping the high resolution in mind, a powerful chipset, capable sensor and a lot of storage space will be needed. All the information seen so far suggests that the Honami has that covered on all fronts.

Other photos in the leaked batch show the Sony smartphone being placed next to an iPhone 5, which helps give a better idea about its size. From what is known so far, the Xperia Honami should come with a 5-inch 1080p display. This makes it similar to the Xpera Z, at least in terms of the front and dimensions. However, the smartphone will pack a 20.7 megapixel real shooter, which is one of its primary USP’s.
GSMarena reports that the Honami camera will be clubbed in with an LED flash. And if that was not enough, the sensor size is 1/2.3 inches and will feature a G Lens. G Lens is something that is commonly found in most of Sony’s point-and-shoot digital cameras.
The smartphone will also come with the latest Snapdragon 800 SoC clubbed in with an Adreno 330 GPU chipset and a quad-core Krait 400 CPU. The smartphone will run Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean with Sony’s Xperia UI added in. Going by the recent releases being pushed out by Sony, it can be assumed that the Honami will also be water resistant. And there have also been reports of Sony planning interchangable lenses for the smartphone.
According to GSMarena’s report, Sony has scheduled an event in Berlin on September 4 where it plans to reveal the company’s new flagship cameraphone. Xperia fanatics who have been following the build-up closely only have to wait a few more weeks before getting their hands on the official specifications sheet.
