Yahoo! is beckoning developers from across the country to join them in their 2-day hackathon event in Hyderabad on July 13 and 14. At the 2-day event, Yahoo! expects developers to join in to build hacks, learn from the experts and play tech and interactive games. It is the company’s 6th open hack event in the country and a first in Hyderabad.

Will conduct hackathon event in Hyderabad

More than 1,000 developers from 20 states have already signed up for the event, of which 250 were selected after they cleared an entry-level coding competition. The competition was conducted as a part of the application process, due to the high demand for the event. Those who were keen on participating were required to take part in the coding competition on either June 19 (9-11pm IST) or June 22 (5-7pm IST).

“Demand for our previous India open hack events has consistently been high. For each event, we typically see overwhelming demand, with over 4,000 hackers, both developers and designers, applying,” a post on the Yahoo! Developer Network blog reads.

Previously Yahoo! hosted 5 such events in Bengaluru and they claim to have received over 4,000 applications for their event last year. This year, Yahoo! will host its hackathons in Hyderabad and Bengaluru.

“This two-day hackathon will celebrate collaboration, learning and innovation using the world’s top technologies from both YDN and tech partners,” says a post on YDN.

Those who have missed out on the Hyderabad event can hone their developer chops for the Bangalore event which is scheduled for later.
