Xolo’s Broadcom-powered Q1000 launched late last year now gets an Android 4.4 KitKat update. However, Xolo isn’t pushing out an OTA update; rather users will have to download the 294MB file from the company’s official site . Once you download the file, rename it as update.zip. However, Xolo points out that one shouldn’t unzip the file. Click here for a detailed set of instructions on upgrading to KitKat. Though launched for Rs 9,999, the Xolo Q1000 Opus is now available online at around Rs 8,300. Sporting a large 5-inch display, it features a 5-megapixel rear camera and a front-facing VGA camera. The Xolo Opus Q1000 is powered by a 1.2GHz quad-core processor coupled with 1GB of RAM, so performance should be on par with most other Indian quad-core handsets. It leverages Broadcom’s BCM23550 quad core HSPA+ processor, BCM4334 connectivity combo chip and BCM4752 multi-constellation GNSS location chip. The dual-SIM (GSM + GSM) smartphone runs on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean. On the connectivity front, it comes with support for Wi-Fi, 3G, GPRS, EDGE along with Bluetooth and GPS with A-GPS support.
