Xolo Q1100 vs Moto G: Specifications face-off

Strengthening its Q series, Xolo added the new **Q1100** device to its portfolio lately. Interestingly, Xolo launched the device for Rs 14,999 just a couple of days after the **Moto G went up for sale** in India. As both devices fall under the same price bracket, we decided to throw them in the ring for a specs comparison. Read on to know who gets an upper hand over the other, at least on paper.   Xolo Q1100 [caption id=“attachment_217886” align=“aligncenter” width=“640”] ![Yet another 5-incher from Xolo](http://tech.firstpost.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/02/xoloQ1100.jpg) Yet another 5-incher from Xolo[/caption] The Xolo Q1100 sports a larger 5-inch display, but features the same 720p resolution as Moto G. This limits its display pixel density to 294ppi. It runs Android 4.3 out-of-the-box, but there is no word on upgrade to the latest KitKat iteration of Android. Under the hood, the phablet is powered by the Snapdragon 400 and its four cores are clocked at 1.4GHz. In addition, there’s 1GB of RAM and an Adreno 305 GPU.  Just like the Moto G, the Xolo Q1100 offers dual-SIM (GSM-GSM) support.   On the camera front, it packs in an 8-megapixel rear shooter with LED flash and BSI 2 sensor, and the 2-megapixel front camera. The Q1100 also gets expandable storage slot to increase the 8GB of internal storage with an additional 32GB. The connectivity options include Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, GPS, AGPS, EDGE, and 3G. It is backed by a 2000mAh battery, which according to the company can deliver 24 hours of talk time and 600 hours of standby time on 2G network.   Moto G [caption id=“attachment_218023” align=“aligncenter” width=“768”] ![Makes a very good first impression](http://tech.firstpost.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/02/moto_g_4.jpg) Makes a very good first impression[/caption] The smartphone comes with a smaller 4.5-inch TFT LCD panel, but makes up for it with 720p resolution and a pixel density of 326 ppi. While the **Moto G** currently comes with Android 4.3 Jelly Bean, Motorola has already started rolling out version 4.4 KitKat**.** The handset bears a strong resemblance to the Moto X in terms of design, with a speaker grille on top along with the front facing camera being prominent examples. Under the hood, the handset is powered by quad-core Snapdragon 400 CPU and an Adreno 305 CPU, just like the Xolo Q1100.   The camera, at least on paper, could be the biggest tradeoff, as the Moto G comes with a 5-megapixel primary shooter. On the connectivity front, standard options like Wi-Fi, GPS, GLONASS and Bluetooth have all been integrated. While the handset comes with 8GB and 16GB internal memory variants without a microSD card slot, Motorola has packed in 50GB of free storage in Google Drive for two years. The company also offers a 2,070 mAh battery, which is rated for 24 hours of mixed usage. The Moto G can supposedly outlast the iPhone 5s in terms of talk time by 30 percent, although we will have to wait to see how well the phone holds up in real world usage after our loop test.   Take a look at the comparison table below: ![xoloq1100_motog](http://tech.firstpost.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/02/xoloq1100_motog2.jpg) Verdict: Though the Moto G has a 4.5-inch display, which may be seem a bit small for the phablet craze still very much alive in our country, it appears to be sharp with a pixel density that goes all the way up to 326 ppi. While the Moto G employs Gorilla Glass 3, there is no word on the scratch resistant coating for the Xolo Q1100 yet. Clearly the Moto G appears to be a winner with better connectivity options, while Q1100 gets the upper hand when it comes to the camera. Priced at Rs 14,999, the Xolo Q1100 is available with 8GB storage options that can be expanded up to 32GB. On the other hand, Moto G offers 8GB and 16GB options at Rs 12,499 and Rs 13,999 respectively, but no expandable memory support. The Xolo Q1100 is powered by the Snapdragon 400 SoC (MSM8228, unlike the G’s MSM8226) and its four cores are clocked at 1.4GHz, so it has slightly more oomph than the Motorola phone. However, we’ve already heard rave reviews about the Moto G’s performance, so let’s hold on to this one until we get our hands on the Xolo Q1100. In a nutshell, the Xolo Q1100 appears to have a specs sheet at par with the Moto G. Now, the question is would users opt for the Xolo Q1100 (by paying additional Rs 1,000) over a more established brand like Motorola, just for the expandable memory slot?
