Xolo has launched its latest smartphone—the Q1000S—which is set to take over the torch from the Q1000 as the company’s flagship device. The Q1000S is one of the slimmest smartphones currently available in the market, with a thickness of just 6.98 mm. The smartphone is priced at Rs 18,999.

On the front is a 5-inch IPS panel with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels. This gives it a pixel density of 294 ppi. Along with this, it also has One Glass Solution (OGS) technology, which essentially enhances the overall colours and contrast on the display.

Under the hood, the Q1000S is powered by a 1.5GHz quad-core processor along with 1GB of RAM. This means the interface will be quite smooth, especially when coupled with Android 4.2 Jelly Bean and its Project Butter. This is kept alive by a 2,500 mAh battery, which Xolo claims can play music for up to 53 hours through internal speakers, 34  hours through wired headset, 425 hours of standby time, 22.5 hours of 2G talk time and 12.5 hours of 3G talk time. Internal memory is 16GB, and it doesn’t seem to have a microSD slot for memory expansion.

It is equipped with a 13 megapixel shooter on the back which has a BSI 2 sensor. BSI 2 is, as the name might imply, a successor to the original Backside Illuminated sensor. It gives better image quality, enhanced colour reproduction and improved overall camera performance when compared to its predecessor. The front has a 5 megapixel camera with a BSI sensor.

The rear camera is capable of recording full HD 1080p videos and has its own image stabilisation technology that allows for decent photography even with a shaky hand. Other features of the camera include scene detection and tuning, HDR capabilities, low-light enhancements, face recognition, panorama capabilities and geo tagging. Its burst mode is capable of capturing up to 99 pictures.

Ever heard of one of those people who just never seem to shut up about something? Shunal is like the nerd equivalent of that guy. Believe us when we say that he can go on talking about games and smartphones for hours on end. We do manage to find some insight in his insane ramblings though, and through his moronic facade, he does seem to know more than he lets on. Sadly enough, it always ends up being about gaming with him. Or stupid, stupid puns. see more
