Xiaomi's upcoming flagship device to hit store shelves in August

One of the most popular phone manufacturers from Asian countries is Xiaomi with its Mi series of handsets. The company has had a history of offering smartphones with some of the best hardware possible at a low price point of around $320, which roughly translates to Rs 17,792. Reports are popping up all over the Internet of a new handset by Xiaomi that will supposedly hit store shelves on August 16. Reports have also been talking about a new “Mi Hi-Fi” feature, although no one knows what this means.

The new handset, dubbed the Mi3, will once again be one of the most powerful handsets in existence, and leaked benchmarks prove this point quite well. According to VR Zone, the leaked AnTuTu benchmark scores of the handset are astounding. The Mi3 scored a staggeringly high score of 84262. The highest we’ve seen before this has been the Samsung Galaxy S4 with a score of 28980.

Judging by the benchmark, the handset seems to be running on a 1920 x 1080 display and will run on Android 4.2.1 Jelly Bean out of the box. It is also noteworthy that the benchmark clocks the handset’s CPU at a whopping 2.1 GHz. It is rumoured that the Mi3 will be running on a Snapdragon 800 processor by Qualcomm. For the sake of comparison, the LTE version of the Galaxy S4 runs on a Snapdragon 600 processor. The handset is also rumoured to be kept alive by a 3,000 mAh battery, which should give a relatively decent battery life even with the 1080p display and power-hungry chip.

Judging from the fact that the handset seems to be running on Android 4.2.1, one could surmise that a new version of the popular custom ROM MIUI is on its way and has been updated to run on the more recent version of Android.

Ever heard of one of those people who just never seem to shut up about something? Shunal is like the nerd equivalent of that guy. Believe us when we say that he can go on talking about games and smartphones for hours on end. We do manage to find some insight in his insane ramblings though, and through his moronic facade, he does seem to know more than he lets on. Sadly enough, it always ends up being about gaming with him. Or stupid, stupid puns. see more
