Xiaomi seems to be on a roll. It recently announced its first ever laptop, the Mi Notebook Air , to compete against Apple’s MacBook Air and just yesterday it brought the low priced Redmi 3S to India as well. Expect another product to be unveiled very soon as sources have confirmed that the company will be entering the VR space. Now an image of the alleged VR headset made by the company has leaked, which is said to work in conjunction with the company’s smartphone. According to one source, the price will be just $99 (Rs 6,500 approx) and will support Google’s Daydream platform for VR, which is said to arrive on Android 7.0 Nougat. The price and the fact that it will support Google’s new VR platform could be the selling point of the device. Xiaomi doesn’t have any device that currently supports any VR headset, and it seems like a wise choice for the company to invest in the technology as VR is definitely picking up. Recently Xiaomi General Manager Tang Mu had confirmed the VR headset and had also said that the company decided to make its own VR headset as none of the existing ones are optimized for MIUI. Another source says that Xiaomi’s entry into the VR space was suppose to happen on the 1 August as an event was scheduled but it has been postponed. Expect the announcement of the Mi VR headset very soon. Also do tell us if you will be interested if Xiaomi brings the VR headset to India.
