Xiaomi has had the reputation of being an Apple copycat for quite some time now - whether its the striking resemblance in the design of the Mi 4 with the iPhone 5s, the MIUI interface’s iOS 7 inspiration or ending a device launch with Jobs’ iconic “one more thing.”
But now, looks like Xiaomi has found a new muse in Samsung, as a tipster has revealed that the company could be launching a smartphone with curved edges, similar to the Galaxy Note Edge .
In a poster, spotted by GizmoChina , Xiaomi showcases a curved-edge smartphone called Xiaomi Arch. Like the Galaxy Note Edge, the Arch displays notifications on the curved side with the only difference being that Xiaomi’s version comes with two curved edges instead of one.
As seen in the poster, the Xiaomi Arch comes with capacitive buttons on the bottom and shortcuts on the both curved edges. According to GizmoChina, the design concept may never materialise, given the fact that such a device would be very expensive to manufacture. This is the same reason for Samsung releasing the Galaxy Note Edge in limited quantities and at a premium.
