Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 specifications reportedly leaked; might launch by end of February

Though Xiaomi has plans of launching its flagship phone  **Mi 7**  at MWC 2018, rumour has it that another highly anticipated device will be unveiled before it. We are talking about the possible launch of the **Redmi Note 5** smartphone and Xiaomi may reportedly take the wraps off the device as early as February end. [caption id=“attachment_4319427” align=“alignleft” width=“380”]Xiaomi Redmi Note 5. Gizm Xiaomi Redmi Note 5. Gizm[/caption] According to a GizmoChina report, the successor to the hugely popular **Xiaomi Redmi Note 4** has been reportedly approved by 3C in China under model numbers Xiaomi MEE7S and MET7S. To recall, the earlier launched Redmi 5 variants had the model numbers MEE7 and MET7 which makes it possible that the above-mentioned devices are Redmi Note 5 variants. The report claims that the Redmi Note 5 will have a 5.99-inch 18:9 full-screen display with FHD+ resolution. Under the hood, the smaller variant is likely to pack in the Snapdragon 630 SoC with 3 GB RAM and 32 GB internal storage, while the larger variant will most probably have the Snapdragon 636 SoC with 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of storage.  The phone should run on Android 7.1.1 Nougat overlayed with Xiaomi’s custom **MIUI 9** . In the camera department, the phone is expected to have a dual-camera setup with 16 MP + 5 MP configuration and the front might have an 8 MP sensor. The phone is also tipped to have facial recognition technology alongside a fingerprint sensor placed on the back of the device. According to the report, the phone will feature an “integrated metallic chassis with nano-injection moulding antenna design”. The price of the 3 GB + 32 GB variant is estimated at CNY 1,499 (approx Rs 15,000) while the 4 GB + 64 GB variant is estimated at CNY 1,799 (approx Rs 18,000). Due to Redmi Note 4’s immense success in India, it is quite definite that Xiaomi should introduce the Redmi Note 5 in Indian markets as well.
