Xiaomi is planning to unveil its Redmi 5 series in the coming weeks. A close-up of the Redmi 5 Plus box appeared on the Chinese site Weibo. The model 'Redmi 5 Plus' hints at a variant of Redmi 5 like the Redmi Note 4 and Redmi 4X and Redmi Note 4X for the Redmi Note 4.
However, other than the photo of this box there is not much information available about the Redmi 5 Plus. It is likely that the phone will pack a 5-inch screen run on Android 7.1.1 out of the box. The company has not revealed any information regarding the upcoming generation of Redmi devices at the time of writing.
The Redmi 4 was launched last year with a lower variant called as the Redmi 4A. It wouldn't be surprising if Xiaomi continues the trend by launched a lower variant of Redmi 5 in the form of a potential Redmi 5A. The interesting thing to note here is that Redmi 5A may not be a speculation as a device like Redmi 5A was spotted on TENNA's website earlier this year.
According to a report by GadgetHouse, Redmi Note 5 will come with the same 5.5-inch full HD display that we saw in Redmi Note 4. The report also hinted that Xiaomi will upgrade the processor by packing Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 with the Redmi Note 5. The report further detailed that a 3 GB RAM and 4 GB RAM variant could be in the offing along with 64 GB internal storage.
