Xiaomi Redmi 5 launched with a 5.7-inch display and 3,300 mAh battery, price starts at Rs 7,999

**Xiaomi** has launched the **Redmi 5** at Rs 7,999 in India. The smartphone, also dubbed as a “compact powerhouse” by Xiaomi, will be exclusively available on Amazon India. The Redmi 5 will be available in three variants of 2 GB, 3 GB and 4 GB RAM with 16 GB, 32 GB and 64 GB internal storage options respectively. It runs on Snapdragon 450 SoC and features a 12 MP rear camera with single LED flash. The 5 MP front camera on the Redmi 5 comes with a ‘soft-light’ module. Power is drawn from a 3,300 mAh battery. The 2 GB RAM variant of the Redmi 5 is priced at Rs 7,999, the 3 GB RAM variant at Rs 8,999 and the 4 GB RAM version at Rs 10,999. Connectivity option on the smartphone includes Bluetooth 4.2, Bluetooth HID, 4G dual SIM with 3-choose-2 hybrid SIM tray that accommodates nano-SIM + micro-SIM or micro-SIM + micro SD card. The made-in-India smartphone will be available in four colour variants including gold, Lake blue, black and Rose gold. Xiaomi is offering a transparent ultra slim case with the smartphone and will be available for sale from next week on Mi.com, Mi Home stores and Amazon India. It also comes with a cashback offer of Rs 2,000 on Jio connection. Redmi 5 will compete with  Samsung Galaxy J7 Max and **Moto G5s Plus**.
