Xiaomi Redmi 3 likely to be launched on 12 January

Xiaomi is expected to launch another smartphone, as early as next week! In a Weibo post, the company teased an image which shows the back side of a smartphone, sporting a metal panel. Xiaomi also stated that the smartphone will sport a 5-inch display. However, no other specifications were shared. The device will most likely launch on January 12.

In terms of rumoured specifications, the device features a 5-inch HD resolution TFT display with a 720 x 1280 pixel resolution. It will be powered by a 1.5GHz octa-core processor paired with 2GB RAM. It will mostly feature an internal storage of 16GB, which can be further expanded up to 128GB via a microSD card slot. The smartphone is expected to pack in a 13MP rear camera and 5MP front facing camera and boot to Android 5.1.1 Lollipop with the MIUI V7 skinning on top. Xiaomi is gearing up to launch the Mi 5 smartphone next month. Xiaomi’s co-founder and senior VP Liwan Jiang took to  Weibo to confirm that the Mi5 will indeed come with Snapdragon 820 and has entered mass production as well. He also stated that the company will launch the Mi5 after the Chinese New Year which begins on February 8.
