Xiaomi Redmi 1S goes out of stock on Flipkart in mere seconds, again

Today, Xiaomi Redmi 1s went on sale on Flipkart for the third time. As expected, 40,000 units were sold out in mere seconds. Xiaomi has disclosed via its social channel that the device sold out in mere 3.4 seconds.  The Flipkart page now reads the Redmi 1s is “out of stock” and doesn’t give out any details about the next sale, yet.   The Redmi 1s is Xiaomi’s second blockbuster smartphone, following the higher-end  Mi 3 . Just like the Mi 3, it comes with high-end specs at a below-average price tag of Rs 5,999. Following the similar annoying strategy seen during Mi3 flash sale, users will have to register with Flipkart to participate in the sale. Registration doesn’t guarantee a unit and it only means you are eligible to buy one. The company claims to have already received over 1,00,000 registrations, but the window is still open. No wonder, the company is accused of creating more demand than it can supply.   The Redmi 1S sports a 4.7-inch 720p IPS display. It comes with 16GB of onboard storage and a microSD card slot that further expands it up to 64GB. It is fuelled by a 2000mAh battery and runs Android 4.3 Jelly Bean with Xiaomi’s MIUI layer on top. There’s an 8MP rear shooter and a 1.6MP front camera.   Compared to smartphones in the similar price range, the Redmi 1S sports a larger and sharper 312 ppi display, thanks to the HD resolution.
