As we edge closer towards the 27 March launch date for the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2S, we are beginning to come across more leaks speculating the features of the new phone. Meanwhile, Xiaomi has revealed another teaser for the launch event which does come with certain clues about the design of the smartphone.
According to a report by Gizmochina, Xiaomi took to its Weibo account to release the teaser which finally reveals that the launch will take place in Shanghai on 27 March. Apart from revealing the venue for the launch, the teaser also gives us a hint of the design of the Mi Mix 2S.
Based on what we make of the image, the Mi Mix 2S will feature thin bezels on the top, right and left, suggesting that the front-camera placement will be on the bottom bezel, something we saw on its predecessor. Overall, compared to the Mi Mix 2, we should not be expecting too many changes in terms of design here.
New firmware files found by XDA Developers also reveal that the front-facing camera on the Mi Mix 2S will be on the bottom of the phone. An official watermark with the words "Shot on Mi MIX 2S AI Dual Camera" was also found in the files which confirms that the 2S will feature an upgraded dual-lens setup.
Based on an earlier report, Xiaomi has already mentioned that the Mi Mix 2S will be running on the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC and has also shared what appears to be AnTuTU benchmarks of the device. The scores shared by the company show a score of 273,741, which is higher than that of the alleged scores of the Samsung Galaxy S9.
Reports have gone so far as to say that the Mi Mix 2S may actually be faster than the recently launched Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus, Asus ZenFone 5Z, and Sony Xperia XZ2. We shall know more as we head closer towards the launch date of the phone, which is incidentally clashing with the launch of the Huawei P20 series smartphones.
