Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 with near bezel-less design and Snapdragon 835 launched for Rs 35,999

Chinese smartphone and electronics maker **Xiaomi** has launched the much anticipated Xiaomi **Mi Mix 2** at a launch event in New Delhi. The company has already announced the second generation of the device globally at a launch event on 11 September, 2017. [caption id=“attachment_4126619” align=“alignleft” width=“380”]Image: tech2/Rehan Hooda Image: tech2/Rehan Hooda[/caption] Xiaomi has priced the Mi Mix 2 at Rs 35,999 for the 128 GB internal storage and 6 GB RAM variant. The device will be available in the first week of November. India will only get this variant of the device instead of the three variants with 64, 128 and 256 GB internal storage. The phone will be available on Flipkart, Mi Home and at Xiaomi’s offline retail partners. The Mi Mix 2 packs a 5.99-inch FHD+ display panel with an 18:9 aspect ratio and 1080x2160 pixel resolution. The display is protected by Gorilla Glass 4 to prevent any scratches to the edge-to-edge display. The device is powered by the 64-bit, octa-core **Qualcomm Snapdragon 835** clocked at up to 2.45 GHz with an Adreno 540 GPU for graphic intensive tasks. The device will run Android Nougat 7.1.1-based MIUI 8 out of the box. [caption id=“attachment_4126613” align=“alignnone” width=“1280”]Image: tech2/Rehan Hooda Image: tech2/Rehan Hooda[/caption] The company made the bottom chin narrower than the one in the original **Mi Mix** . It pointed out that the decision to reduce the chin size by 12 percent made the manufacturing costs higher. Xiaomi replaced its piezoelectric ceramic acoustic technology and added a regular speaker instead. The speaker sits underneath the display and a “sound guiding tube” helps improve the loudness of the sound. Mi Mix 2 sports an ‘ultra slim’ aluminium frame to ensure that the device is steady and durable. The company has also added a ‘super black lens coating’ to the front camera lens to ensure that it is discreet. Xiaomi has also improved on the design to ensure that the Mi Mix 2 packs a ‘four-sided curved ceramic body’, making the device feel durable and unique. Moving to the camera, the 18K gold-plated decorative camera rim has made a return. On the hardware side of the camera, the Mi Mix 2 packs a 12 MP camera module with phase detection autofocus and dual-LED flash. The company has packed in a  Sony IMX386 image sensor that features with 1.25um pixels and 4-axis image stabilisation for better low light performance. Users can shoot 4K video at 30 fps using the rear camera. The front camera module comes with a 5 MP image resolution. The Mix 2 also supports Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac support, Wi-Fi Direct, Hotspot, Bluetooth v5 with A2DP and LE, GPS, NFC, and a USB Type-C port on the bottom as connectivity options. It also comes with an accelerometer, gyroscope, proximity sensor, compass, barometer along with the fingerprint sensor to enhance the feature-set of the device. Last but not the least, Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 runs on a 3,400 mAh non-removable Lithium-Ion battery. The device supports fast-charging via Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 3.0 standard.
