Xiaomi Mi Air Purifier 2 to be launched in India today

Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi will be holding an event in New Delhi to launch its much-awaited air purifier called the Mi Air Purifier 2. While fans of the brand have been waiting for the product since the launch of the first model,  teasers  seen till now indicate it will be the second model that is both smaller and efficient. The Mi Air Purifier in India will compete with a long list of local and international brands that offer similar solutions in the smart home appliances space. Keeping this in mind, it would also be a first for Xiaomi since it will be the first product by the Chinese company to extend its Mi brand into the home appliances market. With that said, Xiaomi has always kept pricing in mind, and similar to its smartphones that are priced rather competitively in the budget to mid segment, we could see the launch of a well-designed product that is also priced attractively to mark its entry into the home appliances segment. [caption id=“attachment_335267” align=“aligncenter” width=“640”]  Image Credit: Mi.com[/caption] The Mi Air Purifier 2 by Xiaomi is the second model of the Mi Air Purifier that was launched not too long ago for its home market, China. The product puts the ‘smart’ into the air purifier by adding a Wi-Fi module along with an air quality sensor, temperature sensor and a humidity sensor. All of this allows the owner to monitor and control the Mi Air Purifier 2 via his or her smartphone from anywhere via a cellular data network. According to the figures claimed by the Xiaomi website, the Mi Air Purifier 2 is capable of cleaning up the air of a large living room in just 10 minutes. It packs in a large filter that includes a PET primary filter, HEPA (High-efficiency Particulate Arrestance) filter and an activated carbon adsorption filter. Mi Air Purifier 2 has an updated system of air flow compared to the previous model with a CARD performance of 330m3/h but due to size restrictions, take a hit when it comes to the capacity delivered over the previous model. The unit measures 240 x 240 x 520 mm and weighs 4.8kgs with the filter inside. Let’s just hope that Xiaomi prices this one right.
