Xiaomi could be making a surprise entry at CES 2017 as a rumour suggests that the Chinese tech giant will be launching its new Mi 6 flagship smartphone there.

The rumours actually make sense as the Mi 5 was showcased in early 2016. The leaked information comes from a Weibo user by the name of Digital Cats who is said to have leaked details about Xiaomi phones in the past.  According to the leaks, the Xiaomi Mi 6 will be launched at CES 2017, but will only be available after February 2017.

If the information turns out to be be true, then Xiaomi will become the first company to announce a smartphone with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset. If you remember, the Mi 5 was the first one to arrive with the Snapdragon 820 chipset. This means the company wants to give the same treatment for its new flagship.

The rumor also reveals that the Xiaomi Mi 6 will arrive in three chipset variants, which is similar to what we heard last week in a different leak. The international variant could be called the Xiaomi Mi 6S featuring the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset, while the Xiaomi Mi 6E will probably come with a MediaTek Helio chipset for select markets. The third variant could be the Mi 6P which will rock the company's in-house Pinecone chipset.

Other expected features include a 5.2-inch display with 2.5D glass, dual 16MP cameras on the back  4GB and 6GB RAM variants, 64GB of internal storage and a 3000mAh battery with support for QuickCharge 4.0.
