Update: Xiaomi CEO, Lei Jun just confirmed that the company's next flagship will indeed be called the Mi 5S and also teased a camera sample from the same.
We've been seeing leaks about an upcoming Xiaomi handset for some time now and we all thought we'd be seeing the Xiaomi Mi 5s. It now turns out that we might have been wrong.
When a Chinese Social Media board asked Xiaomi about the Mi 5s, Xiaomi insisted that there was no Mi 5s, reports PhoneArena. Everyone is now speculating that we'll see a Xiaomi Mi Note S rather than the Mi 5s.
The device, whatever it'll be called, will launch on 27 September in China and invites for the device have already been sent out. The Geekbench scores that were revealed yesterday and a bunch of previous leaks suggest that the device will be powered by a Snapdragon 821 chipset, 4-6GB of RAM, 32-256GB of storage, force touch and a FHD screen.
The camera is probably a 16MP f/1.8 unit with 4-axis OIS and laser focus. The phone is expected to house a 3,490 mAh battery and support the QuickCharge 3.0 standard.
While we don't know what phone will be unveiled on 27 September, we do know that people are curious and excited to see what Xiaomi will come up with next. Till then, we'll have to be satisfied with whatever Xiaomi throws our way.
