Xiaomi announced two new flagship smartphones yesterday in China which are expected to arrive in India soon. While the Mi 5s is an update to the Mi 5, the new Mi 5s Plus is more like an update to the Mi Note. Both the smartphones come with top of the line specs and loaded with the latest features like a fingerprint scanner, a USB Type C port and so on.
While there is still some time before the two handsets head to India, we think that these two handsets will be targetting the two most popular and value for money smartphones in the 20-30k price segement, the OnePlus 3 and the LeEco Le Max 2 . Here is a quick specification comparison:

Xiaomi is a bit late to the party, however a lot depends on the pricing of the Mi 5s handsets. And knowing Xiaomi, it probably will. Both the smartphones look very premium and would definitely be powerhouses considering the specifications. Not to mention that the Mi 5s / 5s Plus are both powered by Qualcomm’s latest flagship Snapdragon 821 SoC which will certainly give them some edge over the OnePlus 3 and LeEco Le Max 2.
The original Mi 5 didn’t do all that well in India, as it was quickly overshadowed by a number of new and better smartphone launches. But with these new flagships, the Chinese company might have a better chance this time. A lot depends on how soon they launch in the Indian market. A Diwali launch dosen’t seem unlikely, but nothing is known as of now. We will wait and watch.
