Xiaomi Mi 5 live stream at 1:30PM IST: Here's everything we know about the flagship's launch at MWC

After the flagships from Samsung and LG, tech enthusiasts now await  the flagship from Chinese vendor and most popular startup - Xiaomi. Xiaomi is all set to launch its flagship today at Mobile World Congress 2016. You can watch the live stream below 1:30PM IST. With just a few hours to go, here’s what we know about the Mi 5 so far.

Design There have been enough leaks about how the new Xiaomi device will look. For instance, take a look at the image below. There are apparently two models, just like we’ve been seeing with flagships from Samsung and Apple. Both are expect to sport a similar design, but one will be a premium featuring all-metal and larger display. They are likely to be called Mi 5 and Mi 5 Plus (not surprising). Besides, expect a curved-3D glass back. It is likely that the premium may feature slightly upgraded specs. [caption id=“attachment_292468” align=“aligncenter” width=“440”] ![Image: Gadgetzarena](http://tech.firstpost.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/Xiaomi-Mi-5-real-image-front.jpg) Image: Gadgetzarena[/caption]   Display There are two models and one of the differentiating factor is the display size. A Mi 5 variant will sports a smaller 5.2-inch Full HD display while the other is expected to pack in bigger 5.7-inch QuadHD (2560 x 1440 pixel) display. Camera Just ahead of Xiaomi’s Mi 5 launch, the company President Lin Bin also has shared a few images online , which offer a glimpse of the camera quality. But the listing did not offer detailed specifications of the smartphone’s camera. While earlier rumours were pointing at an 8MP camera, the latest leak in the form of a full fledged PPT finally gives out a number and it’s a staggering 26 megapixels . The rear camera is also expected to pack in Phase Detection Autofocus (PDAF) and sport a bright, f/1.6 aperture along with a Dual LED flash. An 8MP front-facing camera is also said to be a part of the Mi 5 specs sheet. But some other reports suggest a 4-megapixel (ultrapixel) camera front camera. Processor The Mi 5 is expected to come equipped with the mighty Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 chipset along with the Adreno 530 GPU and 3GB of RAM. The premium model is likely to pack in 4GB of RAM. [caption id=“attachment_300013” align=“aligncenter” width=“640”] ![Xiaomi-MI-5-leaked-PPT-2](http://tech.firstpost.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/Xiaomi-MI-5-leaked-PPT-2.png) Image: ydss.cn[/caption] OS The devices are expected to run the latest MIUI 7 on top of Android’s OS flavour. You can read more about the MIUI 7 here . We wonder if Xiaomi has some exclusive software features for the Mi 5. Xiaomi may also announce a shocker on this front with Mi 5 smartphone that boots to Windows 10 as well. The same has been leaked out by Nokia Power User and the site claims that Xiaomi may either launch a Windows 10 Mobile variant of the Mi 5 or simply deliver it as an optional firmware update like it did with the Mi 4 smartphone. Storage Leaks suggest that storage capacity would be another differentiating factor. So, expect a 32GB variant with 3GB RAM, and a premium 64GB variant with 4GB RAM. The smaller variant is also expected to be made available with 16GB storage capacity. However, for now, just take this bit with a  pinch of salt. Connectivity There is no dearth in terms of connectivity options, and in fact, the company plans to take a leap forward. The connectivity options include NFC, Wi-Fi 802.11ad (802.11ad has a theoretical throughput of 7Gbps), USB 3.0, Bluetooth and GPS. ![Xiaomi_640](http://tech.firstpost.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/Xiaomi_640.jpg) Battery There haven’t been consistent rumours about the battery. So far, a previous leak suggests 3600mAh non-removable battery. Also, a 3000mAh battery for the smaller variant. However, a Quick Charge 3.0 option and Type-C port for charging could make their way onto the specs sheet of the Mi 5. Availability and pricing Just ahead of the launch a retailer has listed both devices revealing their alleged pricing. XiaomiDevice reveals that the 16GB Mi 5 will be priced a $499.99 translating to Rs 34,304, and the 64GB models would cost $599.99 (approximately Rs ). The Mi 5 Plus is at $599.99 (approximately Rs 41,164).
