Xiaomi Mi 5 benchmark score revealed, likely to feature MediaTek Helio X20 Soc

The dust on Xiaomi’s Redmi 2 and Redmi 2 Prime has barely settled and the company’s next-gen flagship has started popping its head, yet again. This time around a leaked Antutu benchmark screenshot for the Mi5 has surfaced. The Mi 5 is said to have scored 73,075 points in benchmark result, according to a report by Xiaomi Today. This high score is owing to the deca-core CPU found on the MediaTek Helio X20 Soc. However, it was reported that due to heating issues in the 810, it preferred going with the 820. However, since the Qualcomm 820 won’t be ready in time for production, they are now said to have switched back to Mediatek. Along with the score, another report shows a new set of specifications of the device. It claims the Mi 5 will come with an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor, coupled with 4GB of RAM amd Adreno 530 GPU. It is being speculated that the 820, Qualcomm’s latest and best SoC may not be out in time for the upcoming Xiaomi device. So, the company may most probably feature the MediaTek Helio X20 Soc. The new Mi 5 specs sheet includes a 5.3-inch QHD display with 1440 x 2560 pixels resolution, 554ppi, 16GB or 64GB onboard storage and a 16-megapixel rear camera with dual-LED flash. A 3030mAh battery is likely to fuel the device. Just like most high-end phones, one can also expect a fingerprint scanner and USB Type-C port. The latest MIUI 7, based on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop, will run the device. On the other hand, not much is known about the Mi 5 Plus. The device likely to come with a larger 5.7-inch QHD display with 1440 x 2560 pixels of resolution. Some of the rumoured specs include Snapdragon 820 SoC, 3500mAh battery, 23-megapixel rear snapper with OIS and laser autofocus and 12-megapixel front-facing camera.
