As the Xbox One’s launch window of November draws ever closer, Corporate Vice President of marketing and strategy for Microsoft’s Interactive Entertainment Business Yusuf Mehdi has revealed that the console will be more powerful than earlier.
According to Mehdi, who was delivering an update on the system’s progress and manufacturing at the Citi Global Technology Conference, the Xbox One’s CPU is getting a 150 MHz boost in clock speed. This pushes the console’s clock speed up from 1.6 GHz to 1.75 GHz. Mehdi has also revealed that manufacturing for the Xbox One is in full swing now as the November launch window gets closer. The official launch date for the console will be revealed later.
No one will ever complain about a performance boost
“We’re on track for launch in November,” Mehdi said. “We’ll announce a launch date shortly. We recently just went into full production, so we’re now producing en masse Xbox One consoles. We’ve had real good progress on the system. In fact, we just updated the CPU performance to 1.75 GHz on top of the graphics performance improvement, so the system is really going to shine [and] the games look pretty incredible.”
Earlier, Xbox’s Marc Whitten had revealed that the console’s GPU would be getting a similar boost in power. According to Whitten, the GPU of the console runs at 853 MHz, up from the earlier 800 MHz.
The Xbox One is launching in some countries this year, while the rest of the world will only get it in 2014. India is set to get the console in late 2014.
