The next games to be part of Microsoft’s Games with Gold service will be Crackdown and Dead Rising 2, according to Eurogamer. Crackdown will be the first game of the month and will be available to subscribers of Xbox Live Gold from tomorrow. Dead Rising 2 will be available on August 15.
Dead Rising 2 is the sequel to the highly-successful 2006’s Dead Rising. It revolves around Chuck Greene, a former motorcycle racing champion whose wife was zombified and bit their daughter Katey in an outbreak in Las Vegas sometime before the events of the game. Now, Katey needs daily doses of Zombrex, a medicine that can stop the zombification for 24 hours.
Dead Rising 2 is set to be one of the free games this month
Chuck is a contestant in the reality game show Terror is Reality, which is set in Fortune City, New Vegas. The crew of the show keeps caged zombies who are released in an arena for the contestants to mow down with motorbikes with mounted chainswas.
Someone releases the zombies and they overrun the city in no time. The military is set to raid the city in 72 hours and the shelter doesn’t have any Zombrex. Chuck has to find Zombrex for Katey, save the survivors around the city and clear his name, since he is being blamed for the outbreak.
The Crackdown franchise is a series of open-world game where players take on the role of an agent from “the Agency”. The games take place in the fictional Pacific City. The first game in the series became famous because buying it would get players codes for the (at the time) Halo 3 beta. The first game was released as an Xbox 360 exclusive back in 2007, and the sequel hit stores in 2010.
