It was inevitable and now it’s been confirmed; Microsoft has decided to launch Xbox Live in India. For those who don’t know what Live’s all about, here’s a slight heads up. Xbox Live allows you to connect with other players all over the world to indulge in some online gaming. Now in America, you have two packages; Gold and Silver. The Silver package is free, but the Gold package costs nearly USD 70 (nearly Rs. 3300) for twelve months, which isn’t all that bad. Here’s what Mohit Anand, country manager for MS had to say, “The Xbox Live gaming service is a closed user group community. It is an online gaming service where a player is pitted against another user through the online medium. The service has a rating system through which the pairing of a gamer with another is based on his caliber. This means a novice will be pitted against a novice and not against an expert.” Now as per the article we carried a couple of months ago, I’m sure all of you are aware of the 360’s pricing and the two different versions that will be available to Indian consumers. As far as 360 game prices are concerned nothing’s been revealed but it seems once a game’s out for nearly six months, it’ll move to the classic catalogue which basically means you’ll have to buy all your games six months after they’re launched. No date for Live’s launch has been revealed as of now, but we’ll keep you posted.

Nash, as he prefers being called, woke up to the wonders of gaming rather late but don't bring that up around him. It's a touchy subject. A self confessed Battlefield veteran, Nash spent a good part of 2010 on the Steam Battlefield - with Bad Company (see what we did there?). He has a zero tolerance policy towards RTS games but is currently showing an interest by picking up and moving people - who he refers to as units - in the office. Thank God he's not that enthusiastic about Angry Birds or we'd be seeing women flying all over the place. Bali... Bali, put the receptionist down now. see more
