WWDC 2015: Apple to reveal new tool kit for Watch app developers

Next week, Apple will begin its Worldwide Developers Conference, where it is expected to release new tools for software developers, to create smarter apps for its latest Apple Watch. This will in turn help gain a deeper access to the watch’s heart-rate and motion sensors along with other components. According to a report by The New York Times, Phillip Ryu, Founder of Impending (a mobile game developer) initially did not rush to create an app for the device as most of the apps have limited animation as well as the software takes several seconds to load but now, he might change his decision. He stated that, “It feels like we have both our hands tied behind our backs, and that’s why you haven’t seen anything really impressive”. Now, “it sounds like they plan on untying our hands.” For Apple CEO Tim Cook, getting more apps onto the Apple Watch is very crucial. Commenting on the number of apps now available for the Watch, he said that, “We couldn’t be happier about how things are going.” He also added that customer response till date seems to be ‘100 percent positive’. As of now, Apple has reportedly not disclosed sales figures but the company said that in April, consumer demand for the new product had exceeded supply. Last month, Apple Watch released its  first OS update , which included a few bug fixes and new language support. Watch OS 1.0.1 improves performance for Siri and for health and activity tracking, according to Apple Insider. It also includes display support for new emoji characters and new language support for Brazilian Portuguese, Danish, Dutch, Swedish, Russian, Thai and Turkish. Issues involving accessibility and third-party apps are also addressed. The Apple Watch released on April 24 and Watch OS 1.0.1 marks its first software update. An earlier **report** points out that software developers who had tried on an Apple Watch for the first time predicted a rush of new apps over the next few months, particularly in areas including health and messaging. Developers, who had been limited to using software simulators of the watch, discovered new possibilities. So far developers see the watch’s main benefits as saving time or the labour of frequently taking out a phone.
