The vast regions of Azeroth and the Outlands may seem daunting places for new adventurers. There are just so many things to do and so many tiny variables in every equation in the World of Warcraft, that it’s human to feel a little lost and disoriented. To help you guys settle into the game a little better, I’ve listed a couple of mods (modifications) that’ll make things easier for you.
Koordinator
Blizzard’s done an amazing job with the map system in WoW, but unfortunately there’s no way to track where your character is and relay it to a friend. Koordinator helps fill that gap by giving you coordinates of your character. How does this help? If you can’t find where the objective of a quest is, or where the nearest town is, you can always hop onto a site like thottbot.com and search for that particular quest. With the quest’s details, you’ll find coordinates to the objective. Just go to the coordinates mentioned and you’ll get your quests done faster than you would otherwise. This helps simplify things to the point where you spend less time of finding stuff and more time on leveling up.

Atlas
It’s really easy to get lost in the many dungeons of Azeroth and the Outlands since they’re pretty damn confusing to new players (three years into WoW, and I still can’t find my way around!). Atlas helps you find you way by providing a map of the dungeon you’re in, so that you and your party can decide which route is the best for you. Due to the nature of the way Blizzard has designed these dungeons, you cannot see your location on the dungeon maps in Atlas, which is really unfortunate. So the best thing to do is to check the dungeon map as soon as you get inside, and track your location relative to the entrance.

Gatherer
Just like in any MMORPG, you’re going to need some in-game cash (gold in this case). The best way to get this is to pick up two gathering professions, and the only thing that can help you here is Gatherer. Gatherer helps you track mines you’ve mined recently or herbs you’ve picked recently, so that the next time you pass over an area, you can locate the same mining vein/herb (which will be saved on your map) with ease. However, Gatherer doesn’t have a premade database of mining veins/herbs, so you’re still going to have to do the dirty work of finding them yourself.

Auctioneer
All that herb/metal you collect using Gatherer isn’t going to fit in your bags or your bank. The best thing to do is sell everything you get to collect gold for the stuff you really need. To ease this process a little, you’ve got Auctioneer. This mod’s an add-on to your auction house window, which helps you scan the auction house for good deals and, more importantly, scan the price of goods to help you decide how you should price your own goods. This really speeds up the process of selling goods on the auction house to a drag-and-drop routine!

Natur EnemyCastBar
Using the scrolling combat text Blizzard has provided, you can keep track of what’s going on with your character pretty easily. However, it’s what’s going on with the enemy that’s usually the problem. To help you see what spell the enemy’s casting, there’s Natur EnemyCastBar that’ll display the spell name, along with a bar over his head showing how much time’s left to cast it. This is very useful for classes that can prevent the harmful effects of these spells by using abilities like Kick and Counter Spell.

DamageMeters
You might just go with the flow in the first few levels of the game, but sooner or later it’s important to track your own progress and tweak the way your character performs his/her role. Damage Meter helps you do just that by keeping track of how much damage or healing you’ve done. Use the results of Damage Meter to get your ass into gear by tweaking your talent specialization or changing what gear you use.

Installing mods
Installing mods might seem like a bit of a daunting process for some. The easiest way go about it is to download a mod installer/updater such as the Curse Installer or WowAceUpdater. These do the dirty work for you by downloading to installer, installing the selected mod and keeping it up-to-date.
