According to studies, the millennials and younger generations favoured shorter messages thanks to their shorter attention spans. However, reality isn’t as encouraging. It seems a larger Twitter exodus has begun.

Two days ago, we heard about the exit of Rishi Jaitly , who was VP of APAC at Twitter. I’d written about how Twitter was failing despite having all the recipe for a success. According to studies, the millennials and younger generations favoured shorter messages thanks to their shorter attention spans . However, reality isn’t as encouraging. It seems a larger Twitter exodus has begun.

And today, Twitter sees yet another exit. This time, it’s a level above Rishi Jaitly. In a series of tweets, Parminder Singh, or @parrysingh on Twitter, said:

He further added that the INSEA/MENA region is now split with MENA aligned to EMEA and INSEA aligned to APAC region. Right time for me to step back. Effectively what Singh has hinted at is that the India team would reduce in significance given that decision making would largely be at the Asia Pacific level. In his next tweet, Singh said that Twitter APAC would be led by Maya Hari. He said that transition plans have been on for some time, and that he would continue to work towards his transition over the next month. What that means is the decision to quit was taken probably around the time other Twitter layoffs or exits were happening.

The people at Twitter also come with rich experience including some of the best companies in the Silicon Valley. However, over the past few months, there have been some tough questions that Twitter has had to deal with. Ever since Dick Costolo stepped down as CEO , several questions were raised about the company’s performance. Soon after, founder Jack Dorsey took over the helm at Twitter. But it didn’t manage to assuage investor concerns. Matters seems to have nose dived ever since. In July, Shailesh Rao quit Twitter. This was followed by a couple of layoff announcements. And recently, Twitter also announced that it was shutting its popular 6-second video service Vine .
