So far Apple just had two apps on the Google Play store. ‘Move to iOS’ helps you move your data onto a brand new iPhone, while the second lets you stream music from Apple Music. But in the coming year things may change a bit as Apple’s focus on software increases.
At a recent townhall according to a source from 9to5mac , Apple CEO Tim Cook hinted that Apple could be working on bringing more of its services and apps to Android. At the townhall, Cook said that the company is simply “testing the waters” with its Apple Music app for Android, indicating that more apps could be coming.
With the recent earnings call pointing to software services doing good to Apple’s earnings, we think that there is a fair chance that Apple similar to Google, may open up a few of its services like iCloud online garnering users, while giving others a chance to use and experience Apple services. iCloud for example, is a lot more than just backups, there’s the photo library, email, calendar, notes and other details that can be synced as well.
For now Apple’s services like iCloud are not really on par with Google’s services. Cutting off and enforcing its own users to use it own services, who are attached to the Google ecosystem is clearly not the best way to get iPhone users on board as well. So it indeed seems like Apple may take the next step and allow Android users to access its services after all.
