With Apple Watch set to launch soon, here is what people thought about the first gen iPhone

Apple loyalists are eagerly waiting for the company’s next big thing - Apple Watch. The device will be available for pre-order starting this Friday and will hit retail stores on April 24. Though many critics have had their chance to play around and give their opinions about the product, the real verdict will be decided by the masses whether this is a hit or a miss. An earlier **report** points out that the IDC expects the Apple Watch to spark wearable-tech growth while on the other hand, another **report** states that almost 69 percent of Americans are not even interested to buy the Apple Watch. A similar conflicting response had emerged back in 2007, when the first iPhone was unveiled to the world. A comment thread on Engadget has been dug up a Reddit user regarding the same topic. This report is more than 8 years ago, at a time when Steve Jobs had a twinkle in his eye while showcasing the 3.5-inch 480 x 320 touchscreen display to a crowd. But just like the world is having mixed reactions regarding the Apple Watch today, the same was witnessed regarding the first iPhone. What followed with the Apple iPhone is history. Here are a few of the comments from back in the day, when the first gen iPhone launched: “Touch screen buttons? BAD idea. This thing will never work.” “I’m not impressed with the iPhone. As a PDA user and a Windows Mobile user, this thing has nothing on my phone. It sure is good at what it was designed for, a phone that entertains and talks… other than that, I dont see much potential. How the hell am I suppose to put appointments on the phone with no stylus or keyboard?! I can sync it with my computer, but when I’m on the go, I cant do either!” “that phone looks huge!! i’m gonna need to get me some bigger pockets.” “lol last i checked many companies tried the tap to type and tap to dial … IT DOESNT WORK STEVIE, people dont like non-tactile typing, its a simple fact, this isnt a phone its a mac pda wow yippie…. “
