The early adoption update of Windows 8 allows new Windows 7 PC users to upgrade to Windows 8 Pro starting June 2, 2012 for $15 which is approximately  INR 837, confirms Microsoft. The upgrade period begins this Saturday and runs all through January 31 next year. However, those users who’ve bought the Windows 7 PC before June 2 cannot grab their copy for the said price. This isn’t a surprise to us, because there have been reports claiming that Microsoft has decided to attach a price tag for Windows 8 (known as Windows 8 Pro) upgrade, unlike its previous versions of upgrades that came for free.

The Windows 8 hardware requirement wouldn’t require Windows 7 users to upgrade their hardware. Here’s the hard ware requirement – 1GHz processor or above, 1GB (32-bit) or 2GB (64-bit) RAM, 16GB (32-bit) or 20 GB (64-bit) drive space and Microsoft DirectX 9 compatible device video card. This piece of news puts an end to all the speculation about the price of Windows 8 upgrade or if Windows 8 upgrade will be made available for free for new Windows 7 users. 

Windows’ this highly anticipated edition ropes in improvements and enhanced functionality. You will find a start screen that can be customized, more Bing apps, enhanced Mail, Photos and People apps, and also better support for multiple monitors. It is also known for its Metro UI, which is expected to work wonders with the mobile touch devices. All apps can be installed from the Windows store. Microsoft has also been working on security features for browsing, as tracking function of browsers has become a major concern for many. Windows 8 lets you use Internet Explorer 10, which has the tracking function that isn’t enabled by default.
