Microsoft published a blog post highlighting the various new features in Windows Insider Preview Build 14279. The build primarily updates Cortana, teaching her three new languages and adding the ability to set reminders. Cortana has now learned French, Spanish and Portuguese, a move meant to strengthen Cortana’s role in those regions. Her AI was also tweaked to make her responses more relevant to the region she will inhabit. For example, Cortana loves pasties in Brazil. You can also set reminders with Cortana, much in the same way as you would with Siri or Google Now. You can apparently add more detail to the reminders, like setting people, location and time settings to bring them up. We’re not entirely sure what the setting for people does, but if Cortana throws up relevant information when a certain person calls sends a message, that’ll be a very useful feature. All reminders will be stored in one location for quick and easy editing. Two UI tweaks that have been included are Sway integration with the Photos app and an “updated” logon experience. The update essentially shows you the same lock screen and logon screen wallpaper, which will apply to Windows Spotlight as well. The only other update is to the Xbox Live App, which gets a Gamerscore Leaderboard of sorts. There are a bunch of other tweaks and improvements that you can read about on the blog post in more detail.
