 "WickedLeak takes on Micromax Canvas HD with Rs 16,999 Wammy Passion Y HD")
After the Wammy Desire and Wammy Titan phablets, WickedLeak has taken aim at the Micromax A116 Canvas HD with the Passion Y HD. The Passion Y HD will be available in stores by March 14 and is priced at Rs 16,999. The phone is available for pre-order on the WickedLeak website.
There are more than a few similarities between the Wammy Passion Y HD and the Micromax Canvas HD. Both are powered by MediaTek’s MT6589 1.2GHz quad-core processor and will ship with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. The graphics are handled by a PowerVR SGX544 GPU, and the tablet has 1GB of RAM, which should ensure smooth navigation. The Cortex A7 cores are manufactured using a 28nm process and are extremely power efficient, but offer strong performance, as can be seen in the case of the Canvas HD.
The WickedLeak Wammy Passion takes on Micromax Canvas HD
The Wammy Passion has a 5-inch, HD IPS screen with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels, just like the Canvas HD. However, the phone has a larger capacity 2800 mAh Lithium-ion battery. The battery should be able to keep up with the quad-core processor and the high-resolution screen.
On the back of the Wammy Passion lies an 8-megapixel camera. It is accompanied by an LED flash and WickedLeak claims it does 4X zoom (no word on whether this is optical or digital zoom) and 99 burst shots in a minute. There is a 2-megapixel front-facing camera on-board, which is vastly better than the VGA unit on the Canvas HD. The dual-SIM phone supports 3G network on one SIM slot, while the other is restricted to 2G. You get 4GB of storage space, which can be expanded up to 32GB thanks to the microSD card slot.
Commenting on the launch, a company spokesperson said, “At Wicked Leak, we constantly strive to innovate and develop great technological experiences for our consumers. With the launch of our first quad core phone in this segment, Wicked Leak continues offering consumers a great user experience with latest features and added functionality.”
The company says it was boosted by the good market reception for its previous phablets, and claims the success “has clearly established WickedLeak as a key player in the new 5-inch phablet category in India. We are looking forward to similar success with the new phone being unveiled today."

WickedLeak has packed in a screen guard along with the Wammy Passion Y HD, but there’s no mention of any other accessories.
