Facebook owned WhatsApp has introduced a lot of new features to its service over the past few months. Now, the company is rumoured to again add a few more features in the coming weeks.
According to a report by PhoneRadar, WhatsApp for iOS and Android will now get a "Call Back" that will show notifications for a missed call with a call back button. With this new addition, a user will be able to dial back, without opening WhatsApp.
In other features, WhatsApp will also introduce voicemail features for iOS devices. New "Record Voice Mail" and "Send Voice Mail" buttons will now allow users to send a voice mail during a call itself. One can also expect the voicemail to record and share in-call audio as well.
Along with these additions. WhatsApp will most likely bring ZIP sharing with the upcoming update, with which users can compress the actual file, which will in turn help in decreasing data usage as well. At the moment, WhatsApp only extends support for formats such as PDF, VCF, DOCX and DOCS. The anticipated video calling, which has been in the rumour mill for a while, may finally show up with the next update as well.
WhatsApp also introduced end-to-end encryption for all its services this month. This means that all user calls, texts, video, images and other files sent can only be viewed by the intended recipient, and no one, not even WhatsApp itself, can access this data. This guarantee of user privacy creates new concerns for the government. WhatsApp will now find it impossible to comply with government requests for data, since WhatsApp itself will not have the decryption key.
