WhatsApp has updated its ‘WhatsApp Business’ app to version 2.18.2 from 0.0.120 to include some new functionalities in the app.
The updated version number also brings it in line with the version 2.17.427 of the stable version of the main WhatsApp app and version 2.18.10 of the Beta version of the app at the time of writing.
According to a report by WABetaInfo, updating the version number could hint at an impending launch of the app to general users. However, the change in the version number of the app is not the only thing new to the app. The report also points out that the new version introduces ‘Labels’ to the app which can help users quickly filter out and classify the messages and type of message threads.
The labels function is almost similar to the ‘Starred messages’ feature but here you can add more labels with different colours according to your needs to sort the messages and message threads to ensure that your workflow is streamlined. One of the most evident examples is the fact that you can add labels to chat messages classifying the payment status to the corresponding messages and grouping all the messages with updates regarding the payment or any new order to reduce a headache about nothing such information down in any third party app.
The new version of the app also comes with the ability to give quick replies. The app comes with a number of new features when compared to the main ‘WhatsApp’ app as reported in a previous report.
This is not the only new feature that developers are working on as according to another report by WABetaInfo, WhatsApp has also introduced mention notifications in group conversations. Which means that users will be notified of the number of times they are mentioned in the groups.
This will help them not miss on any messages that are relevant to them and other users want them to check out instead of trying to skim through hundreds of messages while trying to spot anything relevant to them. The mention notification will allow users to jump to the instance of the mention while the app highlights the message where other group members mentioned the given group participant
