WhatsApp Beta points out at upcoming Payments interface; to enable 'bank to bank transfer with UPI'

Popular multimedia messaging platform WhatsApp is working to bake Payment options inside the app. According to a new report by WABetaInfo, the latest Beta version of WhatsApp for Android, 2.17.295 has uncovered hints at the upcoming payments feature. The interesting thing to note here is that the screenshot hints at ‘bank to bank transfer with UPI’. **UPI** is a direct reference to the Unified Payments Interface rolled out by National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI). This new development comes months after the company posted that it is looking for a payments expert in the **job listing** . We are already aware that the company is working on a separate WhatsApp for Business app where small business owners can get in touch with their customers. Here, if a business contact is verified by WhatsApp then the app will save it in the database so that users don’t have to download the contact details in the future.
