WeChat has tied up with JagranJosh.com to bring admission and enrollment-related information for students and government job aspirants. The information will be available through the Official Account on WeChat, which will also provide competitive exam aspirants and Government job seekers with relevant information. The account will feature an education tab that would show users information about the Delhi University cut-offs and admission lists, while job seekers can look for information about opportunities in the Indian Army, Railway, Navy and Air Force in the Job Aspirant tab.

The Official Account feature is one of the ways WeChat is trying to monetize its app as brands try to gain a foothold in the messaging space and on mobile apps. It can be seen as the company’s answer to BBM Channels. WeChat has a number of official accounts to help users find restaurants, café deals, and get news updates and interact with the brand on a personal level through Official Accounts. Brands using the feature include Café Coffee Day, AskMe, Headlines Today, BBC India, Jagran, Zee, Stayfree India, Hungama among others. This feature enables brands reach their target audience, through a platform they are comfortable talking.   WeChat has **been steadily adding users in India** , despite there being **no shortage of such apps** , and the existing popularity of WhatsApp in the country. The latter is by far the most used app, with **over 50 million users in the country** , but WeChat is hoping that its feature-rich offering will **eventually overcome WhatsApp** which is purely a messenger with very little involvement for brands. The China-based messaging app recently launched a Dropbox-like service after launching **a major revamp for its Android app** .
