After Nokia’s big Lumia 920 launch, Amazon is all set for its own big September event today later today in Santa Monica, California where it is expected to launch a new version of the Kindle Fire as well as a new e-reader. According to The Verge, Amazon will also launch a smartphone. You can read the entire report here.
Yesterday Amazon released a new ad during an NFL game, which you can see above, where it showed two new Kindles. The first looked like a 10-inch version of the Kindle Fire. There was also another Kindle e-reader that resembled the ‘Paperwhite Kindle’ device images for which were leaked earlier.

According to the rumour mills, the new Kindle Fire is likely to have a faster processor, to help it to compete with the Google Nexus that recently entered the tiny tablet market. The Nexus is equipped with a quad-core processor unlike the Kindle Fire which has a dual-core processor.
CNET has also reported that the 7-inch Kindle Fire could come with an increased screenresolution. The reports have suggested two versions of the Kindle Fire, a 7-inch and a 10-inch version.
Reuters had also reported that Amazon was dropping Google maps from the new version of Kindle and instead teaming up Nokia for the mapping services.
Hopefully we will know more at tomorrow, once the devices are out.
