The newspaper said in a note on its website that readers of some stories are being redirected to the website of the Syrian Electronic Army, a group that supports President Bashar Assad’s regime.

New York: The Washington Post said its website has been hacked.

The newspaper said in a note on its website that readers of some stories are being redirected to the website of the Syrian Electronic Army, a group that supports President Bashar Assad’s regime.

The Post said it is working to resolve the issue. Post spokeswoman Kristine Coratti declined comment beyond the note posted.

The SEA has taken credit for a string of Web attacks on media targets that it sees as sympathetic to Syria’s rebels. Among the targets the group claims to have hacked are Twitter feeds of The Associated Press, Al-Jazeera English and the BBC.
